- 7 Weeks Old
7 weeks have gone by too quickly. Didn’t we just get home from the hospital?? Aren’t the pink balloons still outside the door?
Alas, no. My little girl is growing up much too quickly for me. Almost each evening, I return from work to marvel at how much more mature she looks then when I left [...] - Germany 1, USA 0
Either I was a much poorer student in American History class then I remember, or I was taught something that just wasn’t true (surprise, surprise). I feel like I was taught that Henry Ford invented the automobile. I knew that he was responsible, as well, for creating modern mass production with his cars.
Earlier, I was [...] - The Cone Returns
The vet said that Bessie definitely has an infection on her foot that we need to treat with an antibiotic and a cream. Normally she would have just given Bess steroids to fight the infection, but it would react badly with the Deramaxx we already give her for her arthritis. So, the good news is [...]
- Stuff-n-Stuff
Still kinda sick. I took Thursday off, went in Friday and now Saturday morning feeling kinda blah. The cold (or whatever it is) has moved out of my sinuses (thank goodness) and is now a minor chest cold. I was using Tylenol Allergy/Sinus medicine before and it seemed to work. This morning I’m beginning a [...]
- Sick Day
I hate being sick. It’s actually been a really, really long time since I’ve been sick. Throwing the blanket off when hot, pulling it back up when cold.
I [...] - Grocery
Went food shopping tonight after work. I always do the food shopping because I enjoy doing it. Maybe because it lets my brain unwind from the day. Maybe because the package designer in me needs the confidence boost of seeing all the terrible, terrible labels. Maybe because my first job was as a bagger at [...]

- Saturday @ the Mall
Hurricane Ivan finally meandered up to New Jersey this morning. He brought lots of rain and wind - though nothing compared to the unfortunate folks on the gulf coast. With such a glum Saturday, and Kate’s meeting at the church canceled, we decided to partake in the most classic of New Jersey traditions: we hit [...]
- For The Love of Money
Okay, I admit it. I watch reality TV and am mildly ashamed of it. My favorite is, hands down, Donald Trump’s The Apprentice. I won’t go too far into the details of the show, but with Donald Trump at the helm, you already know it’s about making money… lots of it.
Now that the show is [...] - Lessons Learned Vol. 3
The third installment of some lovely nuggets of wisdom from a first-time dad trying to juggle his newborn, TV remote and pizza slice.
Spit Up is Hot
No, not the complimentary “hot,” as in, “That new Porsche is really hot!” Rather, I’m using “hot” in the more traditional, descriptive form of temperature. This was an eye-opener to [...]
