plane crashThe New York City/Northern New Jersey News outlets are abuzz with a plane crash that took place this morning about 4 miles south of where I’m sitting right now. A small private corporate jet was taking off from Teterboro Airport and never made it off the ground. It skidded off the end of the runway, across a small grassy area, through a chain-link fence, across a busy highway during morning rush hour and smashed into the side of a warehouse. It only hit two cars.

So far, they are saying that 2 people are injured and 11 people are missing. I’ll update these numbers as they become more concrete.

Though extremely unfortunate, it is important to realize how much worse it could have been. It could have taken out 50 cars easily. If it were a little bit later in the morning, the warehouse would have been full of employees, not just a few. The plane could have been full, not just 11 people.

Update: Most reports are saying that 2 are missing and 11 are injured. That is much better than my previous report.

Update 2: The final word is that 19 people were injured, 3 very seriously.
