Home, Sweet Home
H.R. Bishop & John H. Payne – 1823‘Mid pleasures and palaces though I may roam,
Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home;
A charm from the sky seems to hallow us there,
Which, seek thro’ the world, is ne’er me with elsewhere.Home! Home! Sweet, sweet home!
There’s no place like home,
There’s no place like home.An exile from home, splendor dazzles in vain,
Oh, give me my lowly thatched cottage again;
The birds singing gaily, that come at my call;
Give me them, with that peace of mind, dearer than all.
I mentioned in my last blog that the closings on our two properties took place during a bad snow storm. On top of the weather it looked like, on more than one occasion, that the whole thing might just fall through. Well, the move-in day didn’t go much better as we moved in as they moved out.
“You put your stuff on THIS side of the driveway, and we’ll put ours on THIS side…”
I’m past it all. I don’t want to dwell on the negatives any longer. We moved into the house and the next morning I left for a business trip to Boca Raton. Leaving my very capable wife alone amid the boxes and dust which was still settling all around her, I went and played golf in shorts and feasted on 5-star dining (yeah, I did some work too). I’m back home now and am so excited to start the Eicher Homestead Beautification Initiative, or EHBI for short. (We’re a small start-up with poor funding, but big dreamers)
God has blessed us with this house, and we’re going to give 110% into makeing it a home for us and our family.
I love this house. It’s not a perfect house, but it’s perfect for us.

This house is such a tremendous blessing – what a dream come true. I can’t believe how comfortable I feel in it! Glad you’re home!

I showed this photo to some friends last night, and they all thought it was for a catalog or something. They love the trees!
Congratulations! Enjoy!

Thanks. The day I took the photo was at the PEAK of the autumn color change. We had fantastic weather that day and it was unseasonably warm. Now the leaves have all fallen and snow is on the ground – but it’s still an awesome house 🙂

Congrats Kate, Erin and Bessie, too. Of course Bessie’s happy in her new home, she’s the one that forced the move in the first place! woof woof.

Should I get you a rake as a hose-warming gift? Sheesh. You better have more kids PRONTO so there plenty of hands to work in the yard.

What exactly is a hose-warming gift? 🙂

In the winter when you don’t want your hose to freeze, you break out the hose-warmer. It’s kind of like a Beer Koozie but longer. 😉
