Father’s Day Paddle

My second Father’s Day was awesome. Kate and Erin took me out to breakfast to a nice greasy spoon in town and afterwards we went out to the lake. Erin was more excited about getting in the boat than ever. She even let us put her PFD on without that much of a struggle (actually, the PFD is her friend Levis – she hates the one we have for her.) She stayed on one side or the other, holding her little 14″ paddle over the side, helping daddy paddle the canoe. She loved every second and actually cried when I lifted her out of the canoe onto the dock. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect morning.

Kenny that looks like a great place for canoeing. Can you bring that place here to AZ. Not enough water and “green” here. (BTW. I saw you through a friend’s site-Scott Hodge) Do you see black bears alot?

Yeah, I’ve been to AZ on several occasions (Tucson twice and Phoenix last summer during the 116-degree heat wave) and I can vouch on the lack of greenery. The Saquaros don’t quite cut it.
You see black bears on the news often getting into trouble in peoples backyards, messing with garbage and house pets… but seeing them in the wild, on their turf, is much more rare – at least for me. It was thrilling.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope to hear from you again. Any friend of Hodge can’t be that bad!
