Thanksgiving Morning
filed in Faith, Family & Life, Media: Photography on Nov.24, 2005
This morning we awoke to a light coating of snow. Our first snow of the 05-06 Winter. It just so happens that today is Thanksgiving. I grabbed my camera before Bessie and I headed out for her 6:30 a.m. walk. Bessie has always loved the snow. Since we rescued her 6 years ago, the snow has the power to transform this “senior citizen” into a puppy. The deeper the snow, the more puppy-like she becomes. Anyhow, we had a nice run on the ballfield on this white Thanksgiving morn.
A few things I am thankful for this morning:
- My wife, my daughter and my family
- My friends and my church
- My talents, skills and career
- My health and the health of my family
- Baby Ira and his miracle-in-motion
- Our new house
- New beginnings and clean slates
I hope you are thankful today as well.

Does your dog really need a coat??? I’m very skeptical about the whole thing. don’t they have coats attached to them???

Actually Jeremy, it’s a good question and I’m glad you asked. I always like the opportunity to educate others on what makes Dobermans so darn special. Some dogs, like Huskies and Saint Bernards, have coats that are made for outdoor cold weather. Most dogs do not. Dobermen are people dogs. They were bred from the beginning to be loyal, indoor dogs. They should never be kept outside. They don’t have a coat of thick, heavy fur to keep them warm in cold weather, rather they have a thin layer of short hair. They get almost as cold as we do outside. We’ve even seen Bessie shiver before. For us, the dog coat is not a fashion statement. We don’t do the coat everyday either. But this particular morning was snot-freezin’ cold. 16 degrees, I believe.

Kenny– your blog is looking better than ever. One of these days I will know html/css as well as you do, and my photoshop skills — well, I can only hope to catch up to your level. Keep it up!
