I’ve been experimenting with different background patterns/colors. This particular “wallpaper” option was adapted from my long lost friend, Rai’s blog Quixotic [link]. Normally I try to adhere to a clean-simple-elegant style of design, yet this wallpaper is much more interesting to me than the ugly flat blue color that I had previously. I don’t think this is the final option, but I would love to hear some feedback/suggestions if you have any. It really isn’t working with my header bar, which I want to continue to update with outdoor photography. The indoor (wallpaper) isn’t working with the outdoor (photos).

Been playing around with the style sheets a bit and altered the mountain photo to include some of the wallpaper elements. I’m kinda digging the look right now. I could very well wake up tomorrow and hate it. I guess we’ll see…

I’ve joined the ranks of Google AdSense. I’ll try it for a bit and see if it actually can make me a little bit of cash. If it doesn’t pay off, I’ll kill it.

I’m continually being impressed by WordPress. It took me a full year and a half of blogging (18 months exactly) to attract 16,000 hits to my old, blogger-powered blog [link to old blog]. I was able to surpass 18,000 hits on WordPress in less than 4 months. I’m not doing anything different. It can only be attributed to WordPress’ superior code and architecture. It’s a bit amazing to me that the smart folks over at Google haven’t improved Blogger yet.

So you took my wallpaper and made it better? What gives you the nerve? Seriously, I liked what you did with it; pinstripes are so slimming, aren’t they? I agreed with your initial assessment that they the background didn’t play well with the Adirondacks. Changing the blues in the blog container to match the background definitely helped and I admire your chutzpah mixing and matching the stripes with the mountains. I’m digging it… but I’m a little biased. The wallpaper was one facet of my own website renovation that I agonized over. I actually initially took it live without a background but felt that it lacked something. The pinstripes were take six and I still like them 3 months later which leaves me to tweak other things.

I didn’t think I would like them. But I’ve liked them enough to tweak the rest of the design… so maybe they’ll stick around for a little bit…
